Privacy policy

How we handle your information.

What this website collects, how we look after client data while we work, and what our internal QuickBooks integration does with data. In plain English.

Effective: October 27, 2026

In short

  • This website sets no cookies of its own, and its visitor statistics don't identify you.
  • What you send through the contact form goes to our ticketing system so we can reply. The website itself keeps no copy.
  • Client data we see while running your IT is confidential. We use it only to do the work.
  • Our QuickBooks integration works only with BLG's own books, never a client's QuickBooks.
  • We don't sell personal information.

Who we are

BLG Technologies (“BLG”, “we”) is a managed IT services provider in Chicago, Illinois. We also design and install AV, video surveillance and low-voltage cabling, and build AI solutions for businesses.

This policy covers this website (blgtechnologies.com), the information our clients share with us while we work for them, and the software BLG builds for its own internal use. Where a written agreement with a client says something different about that client's data, the agreement governs.

What this website collects

Messages you send us. The contact form asks for your name, email address, an optional phone number, a subject and your message. When you submit it, your browser sends it straight to our support ticketing system, Zoho Desk, where it becomes a ticket our team answers. This website has no database and keeps no copy of it.

Consultations you book. The scheduler on our booking page is provided by Zoho Bookings and loads from Zoho's servers. The details you enter there go to Zoho and onto our calendar, so we can hold the time and contact you about it.

Visit statistics. We use Vercel Web Analytics to see which pages are useful. It records things like the page viewed, the site that referred you, your browser, operating system and device type, and your approximate location (such as country). It uses no cookies and does not tell us who you are.

Server logs. Our hosting provider, Vercel, records standard technical details about each request, such as IP address, the page requested, your browser and the time, to deliver the site and protect it from abuse.

Cookies. This website does not set cookies of its own. The Zoho scheduler on the booking page is Zoho's service and may use its own; Zoho's privacy policy covers what it collects.

Email and phone. If you email or call us, we receive what you send or tell us and keep it with our support or business records.

How we use it

To answer your message, hold the meeting you booked, provide and support the services you engage us for, send invoices, understand which pages of the site are useful, and keep the site running and secure. If you would rather we didn't contact you about anything other than work we're doing for you, tell us and we'll stop.

We don't sell personal information, and we don't share it with anyone outside BLG except as this policy describes.

Client data, while we provide IT services

Running IT for a business means handling its data: email, files, user accounts, devices, network settings, camera systems. We treat all of it as confidential.

  • We access client data only to deliver the services the client has engaged us for, or when the client asks us to.
  • The data on the systems we manage for you is yours. We don't sell it, and we don't use it for anything other than serving you.
  • To do the work we use our own client portal and established vendor platforms: ticketing, remote support, endpoint security, and the admin consoles of the systems we manage for you. Those vendors handle data under their own security and privacy terms.
  • We share client data outside BLG only when the client asks us to, when a vendor needs it to provide part of the service, or when the law requires it.
  • AI tools. Some of our own work, such as sorting support tickets and keeping our books, is done with AI tools from Anthropic (Claude). They process information on our behalf and only for our work; they don't get to use it for anything else.

Our internal QuickBooks integration

BLG keeps its own books in QuickBooks Online. We built a private tool that connects to BLG's own QuickBooks Online company through Intuit's API, so our finance team can keep those books accurate.

  • Only BLG's own company. It works with BLG's own accounting data, from BLG's own QuickBooks company, to run BLG's bookkeeping. It does not connect to any client's QuickBooks account.
  • What that data includes. BLG's books hold our records of the clients we invoice and the suppliers we pay: names, contact details, invoices and payments. Those records are used for BLG's own bookkeeping, billing and client accounts. We may also use our own contact records to tell past and current clients about BLG's services; ask us and we'll stop.
  • Not sold. We don't sell this data, and it goes outside BLG only to our accountant and the service providers that help us keep our books, including the AI tools described above, and only for that purpose.
  • Run by BLG. The tool is operated by BLG, for BLG; nobody outside BLG signs in to it. Its access credentials are kept on BLG-controlled systems, not on this website, and a BLG QuickBooks administrator can disconnect it at any time. More about the integration.

How long we keep information

We keep information for as long as we need it for the reason we collected it (answering you, providing and supporting our services, and keeping accurate business records) and for as long as tax, accounting or other laws require. Support tickets are kept as part of our ticket history, because a system's past problems are how we support it well later.

How we protect it

We protect information with reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards, including limiting access to the people at BLG who need it. No system is perfectly secure, so we can't promise information will never be exposed. If a breach affects your personal information, we'll notify you as the law requires.

Your choices

You can ask what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by emailing info@blgtec.com. We'll respond within a reasonable time. Some records, such as invoices, we may have to keep for legal or accounting reasons, and we'll tell you if that applies.

Children

This website and our services are for businesses. They aren't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll post the new version on this page with a new effective date.
